Parliament will convene this morning to swear in new FAST members of Parliament, Mau’u Siaosi Pu’epu’emai, Va’a-o-Fonoti, Tuu’u Anasi’i Leota of Siumu, and Ale Vena Ale.
They recently won their constituency’s seats through by-elections last month, which led to FAST continuous domination of 35 seats in Parliament.
Last month, the Head of State, le Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II, issued the warrant confirming the three FAST candidates as Members of Parliament. The decree was officiated on 18 September 2023.
As reported earlier, all FAST candidates won all three seats during by-elections for the constituencies of Siumu, Faleata 4, and Vaa o Fonoti.
The by-elections were triggered when Ale Vena Ale, Tuuu Anasi’i Leota, and Mau’u Siaosi Pu’epu’emai resigned from the opposition Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) last November due to internal matters and then they resigned from Parliament. Later, they were endorsed as the official FAST candidates.
