The two new Ministers recently appointed to the Fiame Administration’s Cabinet are scheduled to take the oath of office today.
The ceremony will be held at the TATTE building. Lautimuia Afoa Uelese Vaai has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance, while Laumatiamanu Ringo Purcell takes on the newly established Ministry of Sports & Recreation.
The new appointment was announced by Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa last week.
The current Cabinet has 13 Ministers; however, under the Constitution, there are supposed to be 15 Cabinet members.
Other changes made last week, approved by Cabinet, Minister of Finance Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molioo has been appointed to oversee the Ministry of Women and Social Development, while Leota Laki Sio has been appointed to control the operation of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Labour (MCIL); Leatinuu Wayne Sooialo retains the Ministry of Public Enterprises (MPE).
Prime Minister Fiame takes over the Samoa Tourism Authority, and Toeolesulusulu Cedric Shuster will continue overseeing the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment (MNRE) that will be in charge of all Government lands under the Land Commission, the Samoa Lands Corporation (SLC), and the Samoa Trust Estates Corporation (STEC).
The new changes would go into effect on the 1st of October.
