The newly appointed President of the Lands and Titles Court, Lesātele Rapi Va’ai will be sworn in this coming Wednesday, 02nd November.
This was confirmed by Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa in a statement issued today.
His appointment is in line with the provisions of the Constitutional Amendment Act 2020.
“Lesātele is a lawyer and was first appointed to the District Court in 1996. He was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2001 until 2017.
In 2021 he was again appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court. “As a senior Samoan matai together with his vast experience in the workings of the Courts including the Lands and Titles Court, he will bring wise leadership to the Presidency of the Lands & Titles Court.”
The Prime Minister also acknowledge his Fepulea’i Atila Ropati the outgoing President of the Lands & Titles Court for his service in this important Court on matters Samoan.
“The work of the Lands & Titles Court is central to the protection and preservation of Samoa’s customs and traditions.
We wish his honour Lesātele Rapi Va’ai God’s blessings on his appointment.”
