Criminal charges against suspended Police Constable Sialele Mala Tapu have been withdrawn in the District Court.

This is due to the lack of sufficient evidence for the prosecution to proceed with this matter.

The charges brought against the Constable earlier this year of obtained by deception, over claims she took money for passports and police reports for those applying for the Recognized Seasonal Employment scheme.

Presiding this matter is District Court Judge Loau Donald Kerslake.

The accused vehemently denied the charges during her appearance in January this year and this matter was then scheduled for a hearing last week.

However, the prosecution moved to withdraw all the criminal charges.

The application was granted by District Court Judge Loau Donald Kerslake.
