Parliament approves $13.95 million tala first supplementary budget for FY 2022/2023

The government’s $13.95 million tala first supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2022/2023, deliberated before Parliament was approved in Parliament last night. 

Chairman of the finance and expenditure committee, Faleomavaega Titimaea Tafua noted that throughout the years of the pandemic, measles and other setbacks, the government seeks to maintain a good economy and ensure the safety of Samoa throughout uncertain times. 

The Chairperson provided an overview of the Supplementary FY2022-2023

8.2 million additional revenue is estimated to be collected for the continuation of operations within the last six months of the FY2022/2023

6.2 million appropriated for expenditures which include developments and operations in progress for the 8 Ministries for the last six months of the FY2022-2023

 2 million estimated cash surplus 

44 million grant in the first supplementary estimate which includes 36 million from Australian Government to finance budget support and 8 million from ADB 

 46 million was provided in the first supplementary FY 2022-2023 to assist with reducing the total deficit and 39.9 % of the supplementary is allocated for all personal costs for all public servants.
