Pativaine Petaia- Tevita is the latest woman Chief Executive Officer appointed by Cabinet to oversee the Samoa Tourism Authority for the next three years.
Prime Minister Fiame Naomi confirmed the appointment during a press conference yesterday with the media.
There were seven applicants that applied for this position however, Cabinet endorsed the recommendation from the Panel to appoint Pativaine to lead the STA for the next three years.
Tevita holds a Master’s in Business Administration, a Bachelor of business, and a Bachelor’s in accounting.
The most affected sector starting from the measles epidemic and now the Covid-19 pandemic, Tevita brings 17 years of valuable experience as a senior officer and Assistant CEO with the Tourism Authority.
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible to the STA Board and advises the Board and the shareholding Minister on policy and strategic issues as well as leading and overseeing the effective execution of the functions of the organisation.
There are five divisions of the organisation and a Tourism Climate Change Adaptation Project Unit.
The five Divisions are the: Policy & Sector Coordination, Marketing & Promotions, Planning & Development, Research & Statistics, Finance & Corporate Services, and a Tourism unit responsible for the coordination of the ‘National Tourism Climate Change Adaptation strategy’. A key project that provides the sector with information and instruments that monitors and advises the sector on climate change adaptation.
