The Ministry of Police and Prisons has recovered a safe removed from Bluebird Hardware Store in Taufusi, containing over $400,000 cash.
Police Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo told Radio Polynesia one of the suspects, a 21-year-old, has been arrested and charged.
However, there is another suspect who remains on the run.
According to Auapa’au, the safe and laptops are in their custody and will be handed over to the Bluebird management.
Adding that, the security footage assisted the police with their investigations and helped to identify the two suspects behind the break-in. It’s alleged the men unlawfully entered through the window while their faces were covered.
The Commissioner said the men attempted to break into the safe but failed.
