A man who fell asleep under a heavy equipment truck, on the ferry from Savaii over the weekend died after the truck ran over him.
This was confirmed by Commissioner of Police, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo in response to questions from Radio Polynesia.
“I can confirm the death of a man in relation to the incident on the boat over the weekend and the Police are investigating this matter,” said the Commissioner.
He said preliminary investigation indicate the man was sleeping under the truck during the hour trip from Savaii, when the ferry arrived at Mulifanua, the truck drove off the boat and ran over the man.
It’s alleged the driver was unaware there was someone sleeping under the truck.
