Police investigates two separate drowning incidents

The Ministry of Police and Prisons is investigating two separate drownings this week; an eight-year-old girl drowned at a resort in Lalomanu and a 68-year-old from Savaii.

Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo told Radio Polynesia that the 8-year-old girl drowned in a hotel swimming pool with relatives at Aga Resort.

Regarding the 68-year-old woman, Auapa’au said the woman was out collecting sea urchins when she drowned.

He said autopsies are being considered in the drowning incidents to complete the Police investigation. He declined to comment further, citing that investigations are ongoing.
