Minister of Police and Prisons, Faualo Harry Schuster has assured members of the public the prisoner’s efforts to break out of the Tanumalala prison failed.
“They broke out of their cell blocks and stopped there,” said the Minister in an interview with Radio Polynesia over the phone just now.
“They were unable to go further.”
Adding that all prisoners are accounted for inside the prison.

As reported earlier, the Minister said Police were responding to calls from Tanumalala over claims of a prison break, but information from Police indicated that Block one was compromised.
The last prison break in 2020 resulted in 29 prisoners escaping from prison.
