Closing Remarks by Commissioner, Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo at the Official Dinner to Celebrate 20 years of the PTCN Team Leaders Conference – Samoa 24-26 October 2022;
Good evening all.
I would like to acknowledge the presence of the Honourable Prime Minister, Honourable Deputy Prime Minister, Diplomatic Corp, participants of the PTCN Team Leaders Conference from around the region, Executive of Police, Prisons and Corrections Services, distinguished guests.
Thank you Deputy Commissioner Glenn Dunbier for your address on the achievements of the PTCN over twenty years of operation.
Samoa has a unique connection with the PTCN, yes we have our Samoa TCU, but we have also hosted the
PTCCC here since 2008, 6 years since its establishment after initial discussion during the PICP Conference in Cook Islands in 2002.
We are fortunate and proud of this fact and I have seen the mutual benefits of the PTCCC being here and being co located with the Samoa TCU.
As PTCN Chair, I am honoured to be here and proud of the achievements of the PTCN to date. The PTCN is a strong and trusted law enforcement information sharing network across the Pacific.
Since taking over the role as PTCN Chair only months ago, I have seen how revered the Network is across the Pacific and how crucial it is to disrupt illegal and criminal activities in the region that may have destroy thousands of lives.
We continue to face challenges, both from a national and regional perspective, but as the new Chair, I look forward to continuing to support and lead the Network into the future and take it from strength to strength.
For now, I would like to invite the Honourable Prime Minister to cut the cake and to celebrate the 20 years of successful network across the Pacific region through the PTCN.
And I would like to propose a toast –Congratulations to the PTCN on 20 years of building trust and relationships across the Pacific with law enforcement partners and strengthening the capability of Network members. it is a proud event to acknowledge the great work done during this time.
In closing, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all who have made this evening and the 3 day conference possible, including the Australian Federal Police and New Zealand. A particular thanks to the PTCCC and the PTCN Secretariat for their incredible efforts in the facilitation of this conference.
I would like to leave you with this message, TRANSNATIONAL CRIMES HAS NO BORDERS.
Therefore, “WHEN THREATS ARE REGIONAL, THE RESPONSE CAN’T BE LOCAL”
It is time for the Region to come together to defeat these threats. Evil will always flourishes when good people do nothing.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.
