Savai’i confirms its first COVID as Community cases reaches 111

Samoa’s community cases of COVID-19 continue to increase with the latest information from the Government its now 111 with one case from Savaii.

“The government advises that since the first confirmed community transmission case on the 17th March 2022, 95 new cases have been confirmed as of today 19th March 2022 at 2 pm local time, says the statement issued by the National Emergency Operations Committee.

“Total active cases now stand at 111 with 110 cases confirmed in Upolu and 1 active case in Savaii.   

“There are no active cases recorded for the islands of Manono and Apolima as of the time of the report.”    

The active imported cases of passengers from New Zealand earlier this month remain at 15 and active community cases 96.

All are in managed isolation and quarantine.

The statement says there are 22 with symptoms at the hospital, while the asymptomatic cases remain in isolation sites.

There is no intensive care unit case.
