Several Cabinet Ministers have confirmed the appointment of Lemalu Selesitina Meni Reti as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa National Provident Fund.

An accountant by profession, Lemalu is an internal auditor and currently serves as a member of the  Samoa Trust Estates Corporation board of directors.  Lemalu was also a Chief Accountant for the Electric Power Corporation.

Lemalu takes over the position held by Pauli Prince Suhren, who was informed last month that his application was not shortlisted after serving two terms of six years as CEO.

The SNPF position was first advertised in January this year, with a deadline in February; however, it was re-advertised in early May.

Lemalu, while working at SPREP, established an Internal Audit Unit, which may be a first in Pacific Regional Organisations and set up the Audit committee within four months of commencing service in 2012.

At SPREP, Lemalu contributed to building their colleagues’ financial management and reporting capacity in the member countries they assist.
