The Samoa National Provident Fund (S.N.P.F.) cancelled last minute a scheduled press conference yesterday with plans to announce major changes to their loan policy.
The changes were outlined in a story published in the Samoa Observer last week, citing the S.N.P.F. Board Chairman, Papalii Panoa Tavita amendments would include the termination of Short Term Loans and the Entitlements which S.N.P.F members can borrow from their contributions.
Yesterday the S.N.P.F. management advised through their official Facebook page of the cancellation of the press conference.
“Please be informed that the press conference scheduled for today [Monday] at 2 pm relative to some changes to S.N.P.F.’s lending as relayed by our chairman has been deferred until further notice,” the S.N.P.F. notice reads. “Our lending policies have not changed.”
Radio Polynesia made repeated efforts to get comments from Papalii Panoa but there has been no response, but several social media posts called on Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa to remove Papalii from his post, over allegations of mistreatment of Senior SNPF staff.
