Speaker of the House, Lio Papalii Taeu Masipau during Parliament yesterday expressed his disappointment over comments made by the leader of the HRPP Tuilaepa Dr Sailele Malielegaoi.
The Speaker pointed out the comments were unbecoming of a long-term leader in Parliament, however, he has “forgiven him”.
Last week the suspended Member of Parliament from Lepa questioned the Speaker’s neutrality when attending FAST party events and reminded him of his role as the Speaker.
The HRPP Deputy Leader, Lauofo Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo took the stand and asked for the reinstatement of Tuialepa and Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi as the Speaker has the authority to make such a decision.
This did not sit well with Cabinet Minister Laauli Leautea Schmidt who expressed his disappointment on the audacious move by Fonotoe asking to reinstate the HRPP Senior members after the recent court case which led to their indefinite suspension.
Adding that it’s an insult to Parliament to make such a request.
The Speaker took the floor once again and said the suspension is not his personal decision rather it’s a decision made by Parliamentarians.
