A state funeral was held last Saturday to honour the life and service of former Member of Parliament, Jacob John Olaf Netzler.
He was 82.
Born in 1940, Netzler who is from Motootua and Alafua, is an alumnus of Samoa College.
He entered Parliament in 1981 and after every successive election until his retirement in 2001. He was Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries; also served as Minister of Works Transport and Infrastructure.
In 1994 while Minister of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Polynesia Airline Board of Directors now called Samoa Airways.
