Cabinet’s decision is unclear on the status of the contract for the Chair of the Public Service Commission Lauano Vaosa Epa, whether it has been extended or she has been reappointed.
Last year August Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa confirmed during her weekly post-Cabinet session with the media the appointment of Lauano as the Chair.
This was after the former Chairman, Aiono Mose Sua tendered his resignation the first day the FAST Administration took office.
The press release issued by the Government at the time indicated that Lauano Vaosa Epa who has been serving as a Commissioner to move into the position of Chair of the Public Service Commission for the remaining part of her 3 years contract which will conclude in April next year.
It is now May, and Lauano remains Chair of the PSC.
Radio Polynesia reached out to Lauano for comments but there has been no response as of press time.
The Government stated in their release last year that the Public Service Commission of-cause serves a significant and important part in the workings of Government and they are pleased they can have continuity of leadership in the Public Service Commission through the appointment of Lauano to the Chair of the Public Service Commission at that time.
