SVSG receives Healthy Islands Recognition Award for Best Proposal 2023 by WHO

The Samoa Victim Support Group has been awarded the Healthy Islands Recognition Award for Best Proposal 2023 by the World Health Organization.
The Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Professor Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma, accepted the award at the 15th Pacific Health Minister’s Meeting in Tonga on 20-23 September 2023.
Today, Dr. Kim Eva Dickson, Head of WHO and Representative for Samoa, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau, together with Professor Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma, presented the award to Siliniu Lina Chang, President of the SVSG, with the children of hope as witnesses.
The winning SVSG proposal, Farm to Table Garden and Cooking Project, will use gardening and cooking to help nurture the healing of abused and vulnerable children living at the Campus of Hope. The award includes a certificate, a plaque, and US$10,000 to implement the project highlighted in the application.
The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for international public health. It is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with six regional offices and 150 field offices worldwide.
