The Samoa Water Authority recorded a net profit after tax of $209,316 in the current quarter between January to March 2022 this despite contribution of a 20% reduction in water tariff.
However, year to date result is a loss of $794,053 derived from unprofitable results incurred in the first and second quarters of the financial year 2022.
This was confirmed in the SWA quarterly report submitted to the Ministry of Public Enterprises.
The new projects outlined in the report included the Tafaigata water supply which are lands belonging to Samoa Land Corporation behind the old prison; the Moamaoa sub-main extension as well as the extension of Nofoalii new borehole supply system looping with Leulumoega-Tuai water supply system.
Furthermore, there is also a new sub-main at Tialoa at Asau towards inland 664m recorded for the quarter under review and the Sub main extension at Vaisala 487m; Sub main extension at Saleaula 290m; the main extension at Taga 500m.
The report also indicated new works were conducted for the sub-main extension at Sapulu of 300m, Fataloa 600m and Foua’s new sub-main of 300m.
The SWA’s quarterly performance report says there were also network upgrades completed during the quarter at Falealili Street; Sinamoga sub-main, Avele sub-main and West Coast Road Rider Main.
The SWA also completed the installation of a 180m main sewer for Falealili Street and a new pump station has now been fully commissioned for the Worship Center at Sogi.
