Team Samoa wins Silver at Oceania Squash Federation

Samoa is represented at the Oceania Squash Federation individual and teams tournament hosted by Squash Fiji at Nadi Sports Center from the 2nd to the 12th of October.

President of the Samoa Squash Racquets Association Lilomaiava Filifilia Iosefa, is accompanying the team, which competed against Australia, New Zealand, Papua Niu Guinea, Fiji, and New Caledonia.

Lilomaiava Iosefa told Radio Polynesia that Team Samoa has 11 players, including the coach and manager.

The tournament highlight was the final for the gold and silver medals between Apa Fatialofa Jr and Marika of Fiji. According to Lilomaiava for the first time in the history of Oceania squash, the New Caledonia men’s team did not reach the final.

Apa Jnr Fatialofa won a silver medal in the men’s open competition. The Samoa women’s team won silver medals, and the men’s team won bronze in the team’s event. The President also acknowledged the effort by Team Samoa.

“I would like to express sincere appreciation and thanks to all our kind sponsors who have contributed to Samoa Racquet Association making this trip possible. Also, for Samoa’s team for making a mark in this competitive tournament,” he said.
