The Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labor has confirmed three public holidays for Easter, in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays Act 2008.
This is according to a statement released by the MCIL Chief Executive Officer Pulotu Lydon Chu Ling.
The following dates are to be treated as Public Holidays for Easter:
– Friday 7th April 2023
– Saturday 8th April 2023
– Monday 10th April 2023
Businesses may open during a public holiday in accordance with the provisions of the public holidays and employers are advised to comply with relevant provisions under the Labour and Employment Relations Act 2013 regarding payment of public holidays.
Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa during a press conference with the media said that heading into the celebration of Easter at the end of this week, Samoa continue to recognise the essence of our Christian faith, as enshrined in our Constitution.
“We remember the sacrifice that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ did on the cross, whom in his death and resurrection redeemed us from all our transgressions.”
