Two District Committee Centers opens

The $1 Million Tala District Development Project brainchild by Government in line with its 5 year Pathway for Development Strategy framework is bearing fruit.
Savali reports that two of the 18 Electoral Constituencies which have signed up officially opened their District Committee Centers last week.
Faleata #2 Electoral Constituency dedicated its new District Committee Centers located at Vailoa on Friday and the following day, Sagaga #4 Electoral Contituency followed suit with the District Committee Center located in Saleimoa.
The District Centers are central to the Project as it will serve as the Headquarters for the beneficiaries to coordinate and organize projects which will be beneficial for their respective constituencies and residents.
Construction for the Faleata #2 Center started in January according to Faleata M.P. and Minister of Commerce Industry and Labor Leatinu’u Wayne So’oialo at a cost of $87,000 plus.
And to ensure inclusive participation by all villages within Faleata #2, the Committee selected includes 3 from Vaiusu, 2 each from Vailoa and from Vaigaga and one each Tulaele, Elise fou, Siusega, Falelauniu, Talimatau, Tanumapua and Tapatapao. The number of representatives serving in the Committee is calculated on the number of respective voters.
At Saleimoa, Acting Prime Minister Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio dedicated the Center for Sagaga #4 urging residents to take advantage of the assistance rendered by Government for their benefit.
Finance Minister Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molio’o performed the honors to cut the ribbon.
Once a district has set up office and appointed a council, the Ministry of Women Community and Social Development will inspect the setup before processing the release of the ST$1 million for individual village based projects to proceed.
Of the 18 district who have signed, 8 were from Savaii and 10 Upolu.
The funding Government’s $1 million Tala District Development Project will be available from(MWCSD)- $63,679,430 million tala Budget request for the upcoming new Fiscal Year.
The overall Aim of this Program is to inspire social harmony and inclusive growth for Samoa, through district developments utilizing our community capacities, natural resources and environment. The Government focus is aligned to the Key Strategic Area 1 of the Pathway for the Development of Samoa:

2. Improved Public Health,
3. Quality Education,
4. People Empowerment, and
5. Skilled Workforce
The Government aspires that this is a golden opportunity to enhance appropriate developments within all districts.
