Vodafone Samoa has donated a mini 3 Pro drone to the National Emergency Operations Command (NEOC) to assist with their work.
As part of Vodafone’s social responsibility, they have decided to donate the drone worth of $3999 with the ultimate objective to give back to the community enabling the NEOC/DMO office to conduct their work with high technology, says a statement released.
“Technology can play a very important part in saving lives. We have seen it in recent disasters around the world and a high-tech drone will equip the DMO to survey areas where it may be difficult to reach during a disaster and take lifesaving decisions,” said Rana Bose, Acting CEO of Vodafone Samoa.
“Samoa is susceptible to natural disasters.
“This donation to DMO is a manifestation of Vodafone’s contribution to Samoa,” he concluded.
Fesolai Molly Faamanatu Nielsen, ACEO for Response Coordinator of NEOC accepted the drone on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer and Management of NEOC.
“We are thankful for this kind contribution given by Vodafone Samoa. In these unprecedented times, the issue of climate change remains and this gesture from Vodafone will be of great assistance to our team and our fieldwork.
“We anticipate the time our team will be trained in how to fly this drone,” said Fesolai.
