“We cannot afford to operate in silos”.

Sentiments by Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho to the Ministry of Police and Prisons, Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo during a meeting ahead of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Annual Conference earlier this week. 

A statement issued by the Fiji Police states that Brigadier General Qiliho said transnational crime impacting the region has increased the need to engage more with regional law enforcement partners, as Pacific island states are too small to be doing things individually.


Brigadier Qiliho said the Fiji Police Force is also lobbying on behalf of Pacific island law enforcement partners for inclusion into international law enforcement organisations.

The Samoan Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo thanked Brigadier General Qiliho for the opportunity to meet and dialogue with regards to police to police cooperation efforts between the two Forces.

He said Samoa and Fiji share cultural links and traditions and it was prudent to work together in addressing shared security challenges in the region.”
