A woman is still trying to come to terms with the sudden passing of her husband, Valavala Sasa, who was a victim of a hit-and-run incident.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening. Telesia Valavala Seumanutafa told Radio Polynesia it was just another ordinary day for their family. Her husband left for work as usual, not knowing that would be the day last she would see him walk out of their family home in Fasito’o.
During a phone interview, Telesia said they have six children, and he was the family’s only breadwinner.
The woman said she received the devastating call that her husband’s body was at the morgue, and seeing him lifeless with severe injuries was “heartbreaking”.
Mr Valavala works at the Jaffa Santitation in Motootua. During the interview, the woman said she had never expected her family would be on the receiving end of sad news.
The woman concluded by appealing to the public for any information that could lead to some answers over the death of her husband. She refuses to believe that it was hit and run and instead claims it appears her husband was assaulted.
Telesia confirmed the Ministry of Police and Prisons is investigating her husband’s death.
