One of the two women whose photos was posted by police on social media as “wanted” in a criminal case has been charged with stealing from a jewelry shop.

The second woman, according to police will be their key witness in the case.

This was confirmed by Police Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo in response to our questions.

He said the two women visited the police station yesterday and the alleged “stolen ring” was returned and which led to criminal charges against one of the women.

The other woman will testify against the accused who allegedly stole the ring.

The woman who agreed to testify visited Radio Polynesia yesterday and confirmed the comments by Auapa’au, but she lamented against the Police for posting her photo on social media making it seem like she was involved in the theft case when she was a bystander.

The Police Commissioner said they made the post on social media when they were unable to track down the two women after the complaint was lodged by the business, hence the photos, which had since been taken down.
