The female driver that turned herself in to the Police in Tuasivi after allegedly running over a man sleeping on the road has been charged.
The woman is facing a criminal charge of negligent driving causing death in relation to an incident that occurred in Salelologa Savaii last Saturday.
This was confirmed by Police Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo in response to questions from Radio Polynesia.
“The woman has been charged. She is scheduled to appear in court on 6 February next year.
“The investigation into the unfortunate incident continues,” said Auapa’au.
The woman is released on bail and must sign at the Tuasivi Police outpost on a weekly basis.
As reported earlier, the Police Commissioner said the victim was suspected to be intoxicated and allegedly slept on the main road and was run over by a vehicle.
