Woman shot by her husband in Am. Samoa in stable condition

The woman who was shot yesterday afternoon in Aoa has undergone surgery and is reported to be in stable condition.

Talanei reported that Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr Iotamo Saleapaga said the 41-year-old woman suffered a bullet wound in the neck which appears to have penetrated her mouth.

“She has undergone surgery and is now in the Surgical Ward. “The woman was shot by her husband yesterday afternoon in Aoa village, then he fatally shot himself.”

Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety, Terry Letuli, says a 22 calibre rifle believed to have been used in the shooting was found at the scene.

Police are waiting for the victim’s recovery before they question her about the incident.
